Movie Review: The Perfect Guy

This is a thriller type of movie that we have seen many times before about a man stalking a woman; most recently with Jennifer Lopez “The Boy Next Door” , which is reviewed in this blog and was a bad movie. The good thing this movie does is that it does provide some background as to why the stalker (played by Michael Ealy) is insane; in this case he was a child abandoned by this mother at 2 years old and then followed many years of bad foster care. What this movie lacks is a believable ending and the lengths the woman (played by Saana Lathan) takes at the end to get revenge against the man that has ruined her life are completely ridiculous. Of course we know this is a movie, but no woman would go to the incredible lengths this woman takes in this movie to resolve the situation or take revenge. What many thrillers like this always lack is believably and this movie is no exception.

Aside from all these flaws, this movie is an effective thriller and in the end I do recommend it.

Movie Review: A Walk in the Woods

Its good to see Nick Nolte in a movie again, and its always good to see Robert Redford. What is unfortunate is that they chose this long and extremely boring movie to decide to collaborate on screen. This movie was very slow, had some scenes of humor, but not enough and the only interesting thing about this movie was their plan to hike the 2000 mile Appalachian trail which stretches to from Georgia to Maine.

Last year the movie Wild was about a woman who decided to hike the PCT (Pacific Coast Trail) after her mother died. Wild was a far better movie than this one and I also reviewed this movie on this same blog last December. This movie however is really not worth seeing and is very hard to sit through because it is so boring in so many areas. It is sad to see how badly Nick Nolte has aged over the years, largely due to this drinking problems which his character talked about in this movie at length. Aside from seeing these two great actors work together, there is no good reason to see this movie so I cannot recommend it.

Movie Review: Transporter Refueled

Why make a another Transporter movie? The original was at best an OK movie and this one is a pale imitation of the original. What the producers of this movie were thinking was, who cares about the story? All we need to do is have some violent action scenes and some karate and we can skip over the arduous task of writing a script or making up any story that makes any sense.

Unfortunately this movie has no where near the action or Karate scenes that would make this movie even remotely watchable and because of this reason and the fact that the story is ridiculous this movie should be avoided at all costs. This actor who plays the transporter is a bad replacement for Jason Statham who played the original character even though he was chosen I assume because he looks somewhat like Statham and has some believable Karate skills.

I do not recommend this movie.
